WGI
Business Development and Marketing
After being actively involved with TPTA for over 6 years, I would like to submit this letter as my formal nomination to run for a position with the Texas Parking and Transportation Board of Directors. With over 6 years of parking industry experience, I have been a key player for numerous teams and pursuits across the nation. I am currently responsible for Business Development and Marketing for WGI’s Buildings Division. My current role includes business development efforts, marketing, and strategic planning initiatives for our national presence in the parking industry.
Most of my parking career has been dedicated to business development and passion for marketing. Most of this time was with Walter P Moore. While at Walter P Moore, I worked directly with key decision makers to execute department and firm initiatives relating to the parking divisions business development strategy, budgeting, marketing effort, as well as client relations. My work within Walter P Moore is where my passion for parking started and allowed me to learn the importance of parking and its impact on people, businesses, communities, etc.
I am fortunate to say that my parking career has exposed me to a variety of parking businesses and operations. Prior to joining WGI, I was the marketing manager for DESMAN, a national parking design firm. While at DESMAN, I was over all marketing and business development efforts. It was at DESMAN that I learned our world is forever changing and social media was the sounding board for most companies. I took the initiative to market DESMAN within the social media platforms as everything had turned virtual due to COVID-19. Without the opportunity to meet face to face, marketing innovation became key to helping business continue to grow.
While at DESMAN I became heavily involved with IPMI. I served on their awards committee for the past two years and was recently elected as secretary for the National Parking Association’s Women In Parking advisory board. I have been actively involved in TPTA for the last 6 years and have served on the host committee for their previous two Houston conferences. The board and members have worked tirelessly to make each conference bigger and better year after year. Over the past 6 years, conference attendance has increased by approximately 75%. I am proud to say that I have been part of this outstanding effort. The TPTA annual conference is one of the best regional conferences across the nation.
I was fortunate enough to have been given opportunities to grow my career within the parking industry through associations like TPTA. TPTA has brought me many learning opportunities but has also introduced me to the people that make parking so special.
When not doing all things parking and business development, I am active with my two boys, Murphy (5) and Marshall (4) and all their extracurricular events. I am actively involved with my children’s school and often volunteer when needed. I feel that my community involvement and industry experience will help the board in accomplishing TPTA’s overall goal of vision, mission, education as well as other key priorities.
Thank you for your consideration,
Britney Cooper
